Old Storehouse: Amble Links for Amble Links
The Old Storehouse at Amble Links is looking for four people to help choose the perfect recipe for their “Amble Links” sausage to go on their menu in January. There will be 3 flavours of links to trial, all made by the fair hands of local Amble butcher R C Rowland and Son.
The tasting will take place on Sunday 8th December in The Old Storehouse, which is opening as a Bar and Restaurant later this month after a £2 million investment. If you would like to be one of the lucky tasters you will need to send an email with your contact details to [email protected] with ‘The Amble Link’ in the subject line. The winners will be drawn at random.
R C Rowland and Son have been making sausages for the residents of Amble since the shop was opened by the current owner’s Great Grandfather in 1904. Today, they make over 2 miles of sausages a year and deliver meat across the whole of the North East. They have been chosen by The Old Storehouse to make this bespoke sausage, as Jeff Rowland, owner of the local butchers explains:
“We are delighted that The Old Storehouse is keen to support local producers and that they have chosen R C Rowland to produce their Amble Link. We have worked up three recipes, and although I am not to be involved in the tasting itself, I am excited to find out which will tickle the taste buds of the blind tasters.”
Among those on the tasting panel will be Paul Larkin, who is well versed in taste perfection, being one of the organisers of The Alnwick Food Festival, as well as being editor of both the Northumberland Gazette and the Morpeth Herald. He will join the 4 chosen Amble Link Tasters for the day together with a member of the team at The Old Storehouse.
Jeremy Reuben, General Manager of Amble Links and The Old Storehouse says: “It is a real honour to have a sausage link made just for us, by such a well-known local butcher. Having served the residents of Amble for over 100 years they certainly know what the locals like! However we will just have to wait and see what their real preference is.”
When The Old Storehouse opens its doors on the 29th November it will use where possible, local produce, sourced from suppliers within Northumberland. Open seven days a week from 12 noon until midnight facilities, will include a dog friendly pub area, serving the local fare and restaurant, offering diners an a la carte experience.
